Description

This Sculpture (visual works) is attached to the front of the Campbell Building. Phillip Harris's design won a competition limited to Eastern's art faculty. According to the building dedication program, the idea for the Sculpture (visual works) was "arrived at through impressions of the multi-faceted geological formations along many of Kentucky's highways." The Sculpture (visual works) consists of 720 square feet of 11 gauge Cor-Ten steel, manufactured by U.S. Steel, which "if left unprotected forms a very fine, dense, tightly adhering oxide coating (rust) which is self-sealing.
