Description

Commissioned in 1974 along with the Stratton Building and cost $150,000. The equestrian statue in front of the Stratton Building was commissioned as a part of the new Law Enforcement Complex in 1974. The $150,000 statue was funded from the building fund for the new complex and also from the Alumni Association and the EKU Foundation.

It symbolizes the prominent position that Eastern's Law Enforcement program has in the nation. The actual depiction is of a mounted Kentucky State Trooper. He is wearing jack boots, baggy pants, a Sam Browne belt and a broad-brimmed hat. Even though KSP officers never rode horses other early peace officers often did.
